
Kitchen Manager Needed

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is looking to fill the part time job of Kitchen Manager. The position is 20 hours per week. The hours will be flexible due to church’s schedule. Applicant must have education and experience in the areas of management, supervision, and food planning/preparation. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. Willingness to work with other staff as a team is needed. Salary is negotiable based on education and experience. A complete job description can be found below. Job Title: Kitchen Manager
Part time (approximately 20 flexible hours per week)

RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Plan/prepare for
non-catered church-sponsored
meals (possibly includes Wednesday nights, XYZ, Vacation Bible
School, UMW, Stewardship Luncheon, Church Picnic and other special
events).
•
Plan and prepare
children’s meals for Wednesday Night meals.
•
Supervise and
manage the main kitchen and gym kitchen.
•
Advise and
calendar both kitchen
schedules.
•
Coordinate meals
with caterer.
•
Supervise
caterers and volunteer cooking teams.
•
Organize
volunteer servers.
•
Supervise
assistant kitchen personnel (when available) in meal preparation.
•
Supervise set-up
for meals.
•
Keep the primary
kitchen area clean.
•
Supervise heavy
duty cleaning of appliances.
•
Do kitchen
laundry.
•
Plan, purchase
groceries and place all orders with food suppliers.
•
Purchase
groceries for program areas when needed.
•
Place orders
with food suppliers for Children’s Center. Invoice costs for food
and all other supplies used from the kitchen pantry by the
Children’s Center
•
Organize food
supplies.
•
Organize paper
pantry.
•
Maintain
inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment.
•
Maintain
inventory of dry pantry and paper pantry. (Paper goods line item in
budget)
•
Check orders
when they arrive and place supplies in proper places.
•
Lock pantry and
freezers.
•
Provide coffee
for Sunday mornings and committee meetings.
•
Prepare
refreshments for events.
•
Help set up for
receptions and other special events.
•
Oversee the
maintenance on all kitchen equipment.
•
Work with
appropriate committees, officers, and leaders in carrying out the
hospitality ministry of the church.
•
Perform other
duties when assigned by Staff Supervisors or the Staff Parish
Relations Committee.
EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE
College degree
in related field; one or two years related experience pertaining to
the functions outlined above and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
